Reactions To The King: Psalm 2
Series: 2022 Daily Bible Reading- PsalmsPsalm 2- The King
Most of us probably remember one phrase in judges- Every man did what was right in his own eyes. But did you know that is only found twice in the book of Judges? Another phrase is found four times in the Book of Judges that helps explain why people behaved that way. We are told that "there was no king in Israel in those days" (Judges 17:6; 18:1; 19:1; 21:25) They did have a King, of course, but they refused Him. When they finally requested a human king, Samuel rebuked them for saying, "Nay; but a king shall reign over us: when the LORD your God was your king" (1 Samuel 12:12).
When we do what is right in our own eyes it is because we think or live like there is no King. When we do what is comfortable and do as we please, we in effect becomes his own king. That was empty then and it is today. So we need to make sure we understand who our King is. Do we know? Do we follow Him? This is all answered in the Psalm we are reading today, so let's go together to Psalm 2.
